With my trip to Thailand looming, I am no where near the dress size I was hoping to be. In the past this would really upset me and I would spend ages worrying about what I would look like on the beach. Plus sized clothing has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years, so I picked up some bits from Simply Be ready for my trip and to try and get myself away from the lack of weight loss slump.
I love matching items but had never come across dresses with matching swimsuits! These beauts are from Joe Browns at Simply Be and are available in sizes 12-28. They run true to size which gave my confidence a massive boost and the little buttercup flower design is really pretty.
The swimsuit (£36) has medium control with the design on the front with plain panels down the side making it flattering and slimming at the same time. I love a halter neck as it makes it easy to drop the straps for a spot of sunbathing, and the cups have a fixed foam lining so there’s no annoying tucking in of pads when it has been washed. For a medium control suit I was expecting it to be really firm but it has a good amount of stretch whilst still keeping its shape.
There is a really cute playsuit that goes with the swimsuit that I may have to buy, but I chose the bandeau beach dress (£30) for now. I like that the top is elasticated so I can pull it on and off for the beach, yet it is also long enough to wear whilst out and about shopping or grabbing lunch. It is really light which will be perfect for the heat of Thailand and I have the perfect gold thong sandals that will go with it to make the perfect beach outfit.
I am not really a tankini kind of girl normally but I fell in love with this blouson set from the Simply Yours range. As with the Joe Browns pieces above, it runs in sizes 12-28 and is true to size. Unlike traditional tankinis, the top is loose with light control around the bust.
The briefs are high rise and medium leg, covering my unsightly bumps and the zebra design is a texture of the fabric making the set feel a lot more expensive than the £28 it costs. The straps are detachable too meaning less tan lines.
I can’t wait to rock my new clothes on the beaches of Koh Phi Phi and for once, I’ll feel comfortable in my own skin. Unfortunately the cold and wet weather of Manchester has meant that I haven’t been able to show you what these look like on, but the minute I hit the sand I’ll get some photographs up so you can see how pretty they are.
I can see another order coming before I fly out. What do you recommend from the Simply Be beachwear range?
