The Best Places In The USA To Break Your New Year’s Resolutions

If you are going to break your New Year’s Resolutions there is no better place than the USA and if you are going to break them, you should do it with an almighty bang, am I right? America is full of amazing sights, sounds and experiences that will see you saying goodbye to the most popular resolutions so I thought I would share my favourites with you.

Resolution – Get more sleep
Where to break it – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is awake 24/7, want to play the slots at 5am? You can. Want a beer at 8am? You can. Las Vegas is the true city that never sleeps and things are seriously fast paced. Hotels, clubs and shops line the strip with street entertainers along the way. Each hotel is like a mini resort with a river running through the Venetian which offers gondola rides and New York, New York with its rollercoaster on the roof. There are huge names to be seen in regular shows such as Britney Spears and Celine Dion, if you are only here for a few days I can guarantee you will get little sleep in order to fit it all in.

Resolution – Do more exercise
Where to break it – Miami, Florida

With the South Beach diet heralding from Miami you would think it would feel like you have to eat healthy and do loads of exercise whilst here. But with the beautiful palm tree lined beaches and all year round sunshine, it is so much easier to relax on one of the white sandy beaches, dipping your toes into the crystal blue sea occasionally to cool down. Whilst South Beach would be an obvious choice, Crandon Park in Key Biscayne has a lovely winding boardwalk for a stroll if laying on a towel with a good book gets too much and there are plenty of barbecues and picnic tables meaning you don’t have to move far for the day.

Resolution – Spend less money
Where to break it – New York, New York

Ah New York, the first city that stole my heart and somewhere I wouldn’t dream of going if I didn’t have a decent limit on my credit card! Even if you manage to bag a steal of a flight and a bargain of a hotel room, the incredible cocktail bars, world class restaurants and designer shops will soon see those dollars flutter away. If you want your money to go further make the most of happy hour deals and hop on a bus at the Port Authority to Woodbury Common where you will find an outlet village offering Kate Spade, Banana Republic and Tom Ford at some of the lowest prices I have ever seen.

Resolution – Reduce stress levels
Where to break it – Los Angeles, California

The traffic in Los Angeles is enough to raise stress levels and the public transport network isn’t the best meaning most of the time it can’t be avoided. Many flock to LA LA Land in a hope to see their favourite celebrity or soak in the culture. The Hollywood sign is a must as is the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for crowds of people living it up my favourite time to visit is Halloween for the West Hollywood Carnival where the streets are busting with some of the best Halloween costumes you’ll see. There are costume contests on the street with music stands along the street, make sure you dress up and take in the madness!

Resolution – Take it easy
Where to break it – Orlando, Florida

No matter what your age, Orlando is guaranteed to transport you back to being a child with the magic of Disney, Harry Potter and enough water parks to see you needing to pack a dozen swimsuits. You could easily fill a fortnight visiting the theme parks but it would be a shame to miss out on the space geekiness of Kennedy Space Centre, an airboat ride to see the gators in the Everglades or reliving the moment the Titanic sank at the dedicated artefact exhibition. With so much to see and do, you would have serious FOMO if you didn’t.
