A staple meal in my dinner rotation is bangers and mash. It is so easy yet so satisfying as the evenings are getting shorter and the days are getting cooler. There are so many varieties of sausage on the market right now, my favourites being Grandad’s and Heck. I like a meaty sausage with a good protein content yet something a little different, with a little panache. Enter Mor Sausages.
Mor taste. Mor goodness. Mor Sausages contain meat, vegetables, herbs and spices for a tasty banger that is lower in fat than traditional pork sausages. The added vegetables really make all the difference and I’ve tried them all with mash, just to see how they are on their own. Obviously they’d make a great addition to a simple salad or pasta dish, the flavours are so rich and deep, they really hold up to whatever you put them with.
There are four flavours to choose from – Moroccan spiced pork, cauliflower and chickpea. Mediterranean chicken with sundried tomato and basil. Pork, super green veg and lentil. Pork, beetroot and bramley apple. The first two are my favourites. The chickpea and cauliflower is still chunky whilst the harissa adds a bit of heat to make a great sausage that is perfect to serve with cous cous. The chicken sausages are light with a big kick of basil for added freshness that is great in a light pasta sauce.
The pork with super greens and lentils has a touch of chilli for a kick of heat that is a lot more prominent than other sausages which actually list chilli as one of their main ingredients. And the pork, beetroot and bramley apple has a touch of sweetness which is balanced by the earthiness of the beetroot.
Mor Sausages are a great way to try a twist on a classic without being too ‘in your face’. You can buy them in Tesco, which isn’t my usual supermarket but I’ll definitely be popping in for more of these to add to my mid week meals. Will you?
