Where To Find The Best Coffee In The North

As a blogger, I regularly find myself hunting out a decent coffee shop to work in. It needs good wifi, a calm atmosphere and damn good coffee. Unfortunately these things can be quite hard to come by and it means I end up hitting the same spots for fear that I may get a mediocre cappuccino. At one point that would be the local Costa but then I discovered Tandem and Funky Monkey in Stockport. They are my main go to spots and where you will regularly find me tapping away on my MacBook. There is now a really good way for you to find great independent coffee spots near you, in the form of the Independent Coffee Guide.

The North and North Wales Independent Coffee Guide celebrates the best in coffee featuring over 180 great coffee shops and roasters. They have all been handpicked by the region’s leading coffee experts and, if you are a coffee fan, you simply need to try them. Yes, all of them. This is your passport to the best that coffee has to offer.

There is a handy tab which breaks the coffee shops and roasters down by area and there is also a small list at the back of places that didn’t quite make it to the feature pages, but are also well worth a visit. I was really pleased to see my favourite Tandem in there, putting little old Stockport on the coffee map! There is also a handy little key on the right hand side of each page to show their facilities including wifi, a digital nomad’s dream!

You can buy yours online for £6.99. And don’t worry if you are not in the North, they’ve got a whole series that should cover your area.

Whilst I’m wittering about coffee, it is also worth seeking out Honest Coffees. They work hard to make sure everyone involved in the coffee process, from the producers to the servers, receive a fair deal. They are a fair trade coffee meaning their growers get a fixed minimum price for their coffee on top of a fair trade premium. They actively source coffee from co-ops that are going that bit further, such as supporting women’s weaving groups. They are highly selective when it comes to the coffee beans too, ensuring they have the best available to bring you the perfect brew. The result is a clean cuppa that really hits the spot.

Happy hunting for that caffeine fix, I’ll see you on the Indy Guide coffee circle.
