The Skincare Tag

The lovely Rachel from Beauty Queen UK tagged me into her skincare tag post. I love doing these sort of things, they remind me of survey type things we used to send between us in the days when I was an avid penpaller. My personal favourite was ‘Top 50 Boys’… not content with a top 10 I had a list as long as your arm!

Anyway… the tag…

Describe your skin care routine in 5 words

Precleanse, Cleanse, Tone, Serum, Moisturise

What’s your skin type?

My skin is fairly normal but is a little sensitive and does go red when I do my full skincare routine. I am also prone to dry patches around my hair line and on my cheeks.

What’s your favourite skin care product?

Before beauty blogging I would say my ultimate favourite skincare product was Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I still love it but have been introduced to so many different things that I also love. The list is exhaustive but contains Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, Elemental Herbology Cell Plumping Facial Hydrator and Neutrogena Pore and Shine Daily Facial Scrub.

Top blemish zapper

I don’t suffer too much with spots and tend to let them run their course if I do get one. I’m an old fashioned type of girl and find a blob of toothpaste overnight highly effective!

Face wipes yay or nay?

Yay… so shoot me! I don’t use them every day but I do find going through my full skincare routine in the morning makes my skin all red and inflamed. I also love face wipes when away for the night, they remove my make up a lot easier and saves me carrying loads of stuff around. My favourite face wipes are Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. They are just ‘wet’ enough to remove all my make up and leave my skin feeling refreshed.

High-end skin care or high-end make-up?

This is a really tough one for me to answer… I love purchase cialis high end skincare and, at the ripe old age of 31, rely on some more expensive serum and eye products to keep wrinkles at bay. That said, I also have a love for high end make up and the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is something I love right now. As is Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara. If I absolutely had to choose one or the other I think I would go for makeup… hopefully it can hide the wrinkles I will no longer be able to prevent.

What’s the most unusual skin care product you’ve tried?

I’m not sure you would call is unusual but I love Dermalogica’s PreCleanse. It is an oil that you massage into your skin and then wet to form a light milky lotion. I’d say it is fairly unusual as the oil doesn’t make the skin greasy and it is marketed towards people with oily skin. It really does remove most of the dirt from the skin allowing your cleanser to do what it is supposed to do, cleanse your SKIN not remove your makeup!

You’re in a French pharmacy and can only pick up one item – what is it?

I’d go for Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream. I tried a sample of both this and the eye cream, I’m desperate to try them properly as they feel so silky on the skin.

Tell us your top skin care tip

Use a serum! I have always been a ‘cleanse, tone and moisturise’ type of girl and have started using a serum since Christmas when my Mum bought me some Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. It makes my skin feel so soft and supple; I have also seen my smile and frown lines reduce. Give it a whirl and make sure you give it time to work… I am incredibly impatient and want things to work straight away, this isn’t always the case.
