I am a regular in the beauty hall of Selfridges with Exchange Square being my personal favourite. There is something about the lower ground location that makes it like a beauty cave stuffed with my favourite treasures from my makeup bag staples such as Charlotte Tilbury and MAC. One counter I never used to venture to is Illamasqua. I am not the most adventurous with my makeup collection and I have always thought Illamasqua specialised in show and theatre makeup.
I went to a big event last month and decided to have my hair and makeup done specially. The fabulous Hannah Gill gave me bouncy curls and the most pretty makeup I have had in a long time. Like many makeup artists she uses makeup from lots of different brands in her kit but the two things I was most surprised by were the Illamasqua Hydra Veil and Skin Base foundation. Both were light and felt incredible on my skin. I was completely sold and promised to buy both of these products the second payday came around. As if by magic an email then popped into my inbox asking if I fancied trying out one of the makeovers available at Selfridges, so I knew exactly where I would be heading.
The Illamasqua counter has moved since my last visit and is now behind Charlotte Tilbury next to Nars. You can’t miss it with its black mannequin hands arching over the products beautifully on display. I settled down and asked my makeup artist to show me what Illamasqua had to offer in terms of more understated makeup.
My favourite primer Hydra Veil was applied then she went to work on my eyes. She used the limited edition rose gold eyeshadow palette buying cialis online that I simply need to add to my collection. The matt and shimmer shadows compliment each other so well and blend out beautifully, just what a novice like me needs. My absolute favourite shade is Tango (2nd line 4th across) which is a highly pigmented rich copper bronze, just what my makeup bag needs. A spot of eyeliner and a dramatic brow finished off the look before a fluttery pair of eyelashes made my eyes pop.
My perfect shade of Skin Base foundation was applied before a light dusting of their Beyond Powder which highlights without the glitter ball effect, in fact it just made my skin glow with health. Something else for the wishlist.
Before I go any further I need to apologise for the absolute state of my nails. I was due to go the very next day and have a new gel manicure so I promise they don’t look this horrendous now!
For my understated look I chose the Beyond Blusher shade of lover which is a soft apricot which warmed up my skin so well giving me a flush of colour without too much ‘pinkness’. I own so any blush products but nothing anywhere near this colour, that totally means it is going on the wishlist.
A dusting of bronzer and a swipe of Glamoure lipstick in Rosepout and I was ready to take on the rest of my day.
I was so surprised at how a glamorous yet none showgirl look could be achieved using only Illamasqua products, I have a serious wishlist to work through! You can get your own makeover from just £50 which is redeemable against purchase, which means it is free because I defy you to leave without spending that.
