Beauty Review: Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

When it comes to body lotions and creams I have enough to supply a small country. From perfumed to plain, luxury to budget, I have one for every occasion guaranteed. Pharmacy First recently sent me Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion to try which is currently priced at £4.29 for 300ml on their website so more of a budget product. Pharmacy First are an online UK pharmacy based in Denton so right near where I work. You can order your prescriptions online as well as a great range of products you’d expect to see in a high street pharmacy, except this way it is a little easier and more discreet.

Let’s see how it shaped up.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion is part of the Johnson & Johnson family and contains naturally active colloidal oatmeal which, they claim, moisturises dry skin for 24 hours. This rich emollient replenishes the skin’s natural barrier function and is said to improve the condition of dry skin in just 2 weeks.

My first thoughts were that this is not a lotion. It’s too thick in consistency for that is more like a gel cream. It has a light and fresh smell which isn’t unpleasant and doesn’t interfere with my perfume so, from this point of view, it is perfect for daily use.

As you can see from the picture above where the lotion has been lightly rubbed into the skin, the lotion initially goes clear and forms a type of film on the skin. With a little bit more massaging the lotion sinks into the skin well leaving it feeling smooth and soft.

I don’t have particularly dry skin so I found the thickness of this lotion meant I had to spend a fair bit of time massaging it into my skin to absorb. It didn’t absorb quickly and left my skin feeling a little tacky at first. I used it daily for a week but found this too much for my skin so I reduced my usage to every other day. I also found it better to apply at bedtime rather than in the morning so my skin had time to absorb the product properly.

For the price I’d say this product would be a great addition to a dry skin person’s daily routine. There’s no nasty residue and the oatmeal is very soothing to the skin. Give it a go and let me know what you think.
