Hi, I’m Keeley. Welcome to my award winning Manchester food blog all about the amazing City of Manchester and around the world. I love educating people about what is hot in Manchester and what you need to do around the world. Someone once described me as ‘well travelled’. I actually disagreed and, ever since, have been working on living up to the title. Where possible, I love to travel with my 2 year old Border Collie Ferguson so expect dog friendly travel as well as dog friendly finds in Manchester to feature regularly.

Who are you?

My name is Keeley and I’m from Stockport. I live just outside of the town centre with my 18 month old Border Collie Ferguson.

Why did you call your blog Phat Cupcake?

This blog started as a way to motivate me to eat more healthily and I love cupcakes. I don’t like the word ‘fat’, I’ve been called it too many times in my life, so I thought ‘phat’ was a nicer spin on it.

Do you blog full time?

Sadly no, this blog is a hobby of mine that has enabled me to meet the most amazing people and try some of the most amazing things. I work full time as a HR professional for one of the main emergency services.

What camera do you use to take photographs for your blog?

It depends. I use a mixture of my Samsung S9 Plus, a Canon G7X and my Canon 600D DSLR. I’ve really started getting into photography over the last year so I try, where possible, to use my DSLR. I tend to take the same shot on both and then choose the best one when editing.

Why do you blog?

Blogging started as a hobby for me and a way to get out and meet new people. I’ve read blogs for a number of years and always used their reviews over sites such as Trip Advisor when deciding where to go and eat or what mascara to try next. I decided why not throw my opinion into the mix? I’ve read some blogs that are overly positive, I’ve read some that are overly negative with very little description of what they are reviewing. You won’t get that here so if that is what you are looking for, I’m sorry, but you will be disappointed. I tell you what the product was like, the positives and how I think it could be improved, if at all. My point is that just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean you won’t, so if I tell you what it is like you can form your own opinion before buying.

Tell us five interesting things about you:

  • I am not a fan of running yet regularly do the Great Manchester Run and also ran the Wilmslow half marathon to raise money for a friend who died of cancer.
  • I hate mushrooms.
  • I love reading and regularly get in bed before 9 to finish a gripping book. My favourite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
  • I have the biggest obsession with David Beckham and have loved him since the day he stepped onto the pitch at Old Trafford as a young lad. I first met him on the same day as Victoria and he picked her over me. I have kissed him though.
  • I have tried nearly every mascara on the market yet still go back to my favourites. They are Max Factor false lash effect and Benefit Roller Lash.

    Hi Keeley,

I’ve added a new feature so you can publish your blog posts on Urbanspoon yourself without having to wait for us to do it! Next time you post a review, give it a try. Here’s how:

    – Make sure you’re signed into Urbanspoon.
    – Go to your Urbanspoon blog page (not your user profile): https://www.urbanspoon.com/br/341/9700/Manchester/Phatcupcakes-Journey-to-Skinniness.html
    – Click “Edit blog settings”.
    – In the Pending Posts section, click “Edit and publish my pending posts”.
    – Then, enter the “snippet” text, verify the date and URL, and press Publish.

    Please make sure that:
    – The URL should be the permalink to the blog post (not the blog home page, a post preview, or a service like feedproxy).
    – The snippet should be 2-3 sentences (quoted from your blog post) that gives an idea of what’s in the post.
    – The snippet should NOT include bylines, dates, address info, captions, tags, HTML code, etc.

Note: there may be a delay of 1-2 hours after you post on your blog until our system detects the post.

We’ll give you one week to do it yourself, then it’ll go into our queue to publish.

Thank you for all of your contributions, and let us know if you have any questions.
