You may have noticed Charlie and I tweeting and generally getting excited about some TV work over the past few weeks. Now filming has finished and those famous ‘It’s a wrap!’ words have been hailed, we can finally reveal what we have been up to!
Charlie was contacted by channel 4 a while ago about a new show they were filming. Have you ever read Trip Advisor reviews and wondered whether they are true? Have you ever wondered what the hotel or restaurant behind the review thinks about the feedback and whether they are likely to take it on board?
With a twist to the classic Hotel Inspector series, channel 4 are doing just that. With Ruth Watson (of Hotel Inspector and Country House Rescue fame) at the helm supported by online reviewers (yes that is where we come in!) a hotel is visited, reviewed and then revisited with secret cameras to see if they have taken on board the feedback provided both by Ruth and the reviewer. Charlie was the star with me as her wing-woman as well as Jo supported by her husband Sean and their adorable daughter Emilia.
We were asked to visit The Sidings to stay overnight and sample the food available in the restaurant. Following this Charlie jetted off to London to meet with Ruth Watson and so some filming before we returned to the hotel to see if there had been any improvements made with a secret camera.
The Sidings is located on the East Coast railway line in five old pullman railway carriages. Any vintage or train lover will be in compete paradise here with the sheer geekery and old fashioned style combined with the railway memorabilia to be seen. As I am sure you can guess there are quirks and whilst the hotel is doing lots of things right, there are some areas they are lacking. All I will tell you is that secret filming was fun, I was wired up with a secret camera attached to the button of my cardigan. This was affectionately referred to as ‘boob cam’ as I had to direct my breasts at any area I wanted to capture on film! Queue lots of innuendos fuelled by a ‘limp but hard’ dessert (no you cannot make this stuff up) and you will not be shocked to hear that we were reduced to fits of giggles on occasion.
I’m not going to reveal much more, you will have to tune in for that, but you won’t want to miss it. There is squealing at the sheer amount of spiders in our room and vibrating beds in the night…
Keep up to date on Twitter for airing dates and details of the show title as it is still undecided at the time of writing this post.
