It is finally here, the Easter weekend and I for one can’t wait to use the extra days to catch up around the house. It wouldn’t be Easter weekend without a family meal out though and a crowd pleaser amongst my family is TGI Fridays. I popped in to see if they have anything going on around the Easter break and to grab some food, naturally.
If you dine between 25th and 28th March you will have the chance to win their competition to win a year’s supply of chocolate bunnies! Just take a selfie with the bunny mask and hashtag it on Twitter, it’s that simple. Make sure you visit over the Easter weekend for your chance to win!
We dined at the Cross Street, Manchester branch but are regulars at both Sale and Cheadle. It can be really difficult to find a crowd pleasing restaurant in the suburbs and TGIs is always good for that.
For starters we went for the Loaded Skins with Bacon and the Mozzarella Dippers. The Loaded Skins were ok… a bit overcooked around the edges yet the cheese hadn’t been melted properly. The taste was good though with a good amount of toppings. The Mozzarella Dippers were as good as always – melting and oozy cheese with a crisp well seasoned crumb served with a rich tomato salsa. It’s a dish we regularly order and fight over the last one.
Onto mains and I didn’t fancy much bread so chose the Jack Daniels Sesame Chicken Strips with Fries and my friend chose his regular favourite, the Uncle Sams Hot Dog minus the onions. The beer cheese sauce on this is epic and I’m adamant to try and crack the recipe so I can make it at home. The Sam Adams beer gives it great depth and enhances the cheesiness perfectly. The sausage was juicy and the crispy bacon on top adds extra meatiness that is never a bad thing. My Sesame Chicken Strips meal is a larger portion than the starter which has been popular for some time, served with fries. The strips are more like bites but dressed with the sweet and sticky Jack Daniels sauce I have grown to know and love. I’m not sure it really tastes of Jack Daniels but considering I’m not a fan, it really didn’t matter. The fries are well seasoned and had a nice crunch.
Big portions are the name of the game and they cater really well for children making it a good choice for a larger group or family. The staff are friendly and ridiculously helpful, I mean how cute are these ‘thank you’ business cards from our server Georgia?
Give it a go and let someone else wash the pots this Easter weekend.
