For some unknown reason I have found some motivation to get on and shift some weight this week. I think it started with the ridiculously excessive amount of food I ate this week and how shattered I felt walking up the stairs at work. I can’t go on like this and I’m grabbing hold of any little scrap of motivation I can right now.
I’ve been a member of a gym for the past 12 years, it started when I started losing weight back at the tender age of 19 and I loved it. In fact, I’ve never understood these people that pay a monthly gym subscription and not use it. Why would you waste all that money, especially when working out can give you such a buzz? Well I’m ashamed to say I have turned into one of those people. I constantly promise that I don’t need to cancel the subscription because I am going to use it, I am going to go back to the gym, I am. Unfortunately I just couldn’t find the motivation and I also hate the idea of what I must look like. If I can feel my bottom and thighs jiggling about, what must they look like? And EVERYONE else using the gym must be staring at me thinking how disgusting I look right? Clearly I know this is wrong and that most people there couldn’t care less what I look like but it doesn’t help my confidence, and I think I have found a way to overcome it.
Gymcube.com is a monthly subscription service providing live exercise classes streamed straight to your PC through your TV. The classes are also archived so there is no excuse that you have missed them, you can pick a past class – hit play and away you go. So no more ‘people will be staring at me’ worries, these can be done in the comfort of your own home and there is a great variety of classes ranging from yoga to kettlebells. Some of the classes need some equipment but the majority just need an exercise mat and a few hand weights.
Starting tomorrow on gymcube.com is a new workout called the Little Black Dress Club. Presented by Katie Bulmer Cooke who was named UK Personal Trainer of the Year 2012 and UK Fitness Professional of the Year 2013; this workout is a no nonsense approach to help busy women get back in shape for the festive period. The live session will be streamed on Tuesdays at 7pm but, knowing how busy we are, Gymcube.com will be archiving the sessions so you can do them whenever suits. I can’t wait to give this workout a go and I think the challenge element of it suits me perfectly.
I’ll be taking some ‘before’ photographs and measurements to see if the programme makes a difference. I really think seeing a physical change will give my motivation a further boost and any weight loss prior to Christmas is a bonus! Why not join me?
