Recipe – Protein Peanut Butter Balls With Protein Pow

I am always on the lookout for new ways of using protein as shakes can get a little boring and I do find most protein bars contain so much sweetener that it is the dominant flavour. I recently visited the SFN Expo where I discovered lots of new fitness brands that I hadn’t seen before. One brand that stuck in my mind was Protein Pow Cooking Mixes. They had whizzed up some protein balls that had no bitty taste at all, something that really gripes me when cooking with regular protein powders. I took the plunge and ordered some when I got home to have a play with.

Protein Pow Cooking Mixes are gluten free and contain only four ingredients – protein powder, coconut flour, organic vanilla and gluten free oats. They also do a pea protein variety so vegans and vegetarians can also get in on the magic of cooking up a storm with these bags of goodness. The powder is fine making it really light without that weird gritty texture you often get when cooking with protein and there is an array of recipes you can try on their website, I must try their banana bread as it sounds like the perfect breakfast option for my sweet tooth!

Anyway enough raving, I whizzed up some no bake protein balls using my Protein Pow Cooking Mix and they turned out so well I thought I would share the recipe with you. It is probably one of the easiest things I have ever made, I promise.

Ingredients – Makes 8 balls

60 grams of Protein Pow Cooking Mix
60 grams peanut butter (I used Pip & Nut as it doesn’t contain palm oil and it is thinner in consistency than most making it really easy to cook with)
60 grams agave nectar
1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
1 tablespoon of seeds

Method

Pop all the ingredients in a bowl and mix until combined.

Break into eight (or as many as you like!) pieces and roll into balls.

Put them in the fridge to harden.

Eat.

I find these are perfect for that post workout slump or if you are starting to feel peckish mid afternoon. They also went down pretty well at the gym, the boxers polished off a boxful in seconds! No gritty taste, no artificial sweetener taste, made in minutes. This makes me a happy gym bunny.

    Yum! These look and sound delicious. I had a sneak peek at the Protein Pow class at SFN, but have never tried their products. Will have to add it to my shopping list.
    Oh and how addictive is Pip and Nut!!
