Now Christmas is well and truly over, things have gotten a little bit sombre. The weather is starting to warm up but it’s still cold, dull and miserable. My weekends are now spent on the sofa with Netflix in an attempt to not only stay warm, but also save some pennies for my grand travel plans of 2017.
I was first introduced to Caorunn Gin when they invited me on a foraging trip, a good few years ago now and way before they were a well known name. You can now find them in most supermarkets and bars as a regular addition and I, for one, am glad.
Caorunn is the perfect gin for those people who think they don’t like gin. It is smooth and slightly sweet, not heavy on the spice or juniper that you would associate with a ‘normal gin’. It is clean and crisp, the perfect sipping gin with a cube of ice to cool it down or served with a slice of apple and a good tonic.
The clever people at Caorunn have extended their offering to help create the perfect mood for enjoying their gin at home… they made candles! This is a genius invention if you ask me and perfect for those cosy nights snuggled on the sofa to help ignite all the senses.
There are two candles available that encompass the botanicals of this beautiful gin. Heather has a lightly floral and herbal smell that isn’t at all overpowering. The bog myrtle and apple is obviously fruity but the bog myrtle is sweet and floral to give a really rounded scent. They help to warm up a room and are so different to any other candles you can buy on the market, I am totally hooked.
They cost just £3.60 and I will be stocking up to fill my home with the scent of Caorunn for the rest of the winter. Well that and a stack of tonic water for my Caorunn Gin. I am yet to find another gin I enjoy more, I am on my third bottle which is a record for me as I rarely drink in the house! Who needs an expensive night out when you have the perfect pair of yeti socks and a bloody good drink?
