Beauty – The Wax Experience At The Waxologist, Cheadle

Intimate waxing still has an amount of stigma attached to it. Every day a woman turns up to a beauty salon to have a procedure for the first time with that fear in the pit of their stomach that, they won’t only be flashing their minnie to a complete stranger, but also hairs will be yanked out of the sensitive area with hot wax.

I regularly visit the beauty salon for a wax. I find it the most fuss free way of being hair free that there is. You get used to the pain, which is short-lived anyway I promise, and it lasts for so much longer than shaving. But where should you go? And what style of wax should you ask for? The Waxologist in Cheadle is a very good start.

Located above Davis Permanent Cosmetics on the drive into Cheadle village, The Waxologist are a dedicated wax only service offering hair removal wherever you want it. Unlike any other salon I have visited, they offer different waxes depending on the area you are having the hair removed from. For example, strip wax is used on less sensitive areas like the legs as it is good for fine hair, whilst a hard wax that is almost painted on, then pulled off entirely, is used for more sensitive areas. It is thicker and doesn’t heat up as much making an intimate wax a little more comfortable.

I was booked in with Lauren who specialises in intimate waxing, namely the Brazilian and Hollywood wax. Now I have had both of these treatments in many salons. Each salon has their own ‘style’ and view of what the wax should entail. Let me tell you, Lauren does it the exact way it should be done and her ‘style’ makes for a speedy and more comfortable wax. She puts you right at ease and advises of the best positions to get into for a clean, comfortable wax with the best results possible.

Brazilian and Hollywood are very similar wax styles, they both remove hair from the bottom (including your bum crack)  the bikini area as well as the inner and outer labia. If you choose the Brazilian, you will be left with a strip of hair, but the Hollywood removes everything. Obviously this is a very private choice but rest assured that you will be in safe and experienced hands with Lauren and the team at The Waxologist.

Whilst I was invited to try Lauren’s services for the purposes of this review, I am now a regular customer. The hard wax makes the process quick, easy and much less painful. I just hope that writing this review doesn’t make it impossible to book an appointment.
