I should not be left alone in Boots at the Trafford Centre. They have far too many displays to tempt me to spend money and lots of brands that you don’t see in your regular local Boots. I purely went in to pick up Benefit They’re Real, that is what I wanted and needed. Nothing else… and then I saw this shiny display from Too Faced offering a range of lip products in ‘colour families’. I’ve talked before about my lack of lip products, I am completely hopeless with lipstick and trying to find a colour that suits me. So I hovered around the ‘nudes’ section and found this beauty…
Too Faced La Creme is housed in the most beautiful packaging. The box, as you can see, is beautiful with a lovely floral design. The tube itself has a matte gold finish and is the sturdiest of any lip product I have ever owned. Huge thumbs up so far.
The consistency is indeed creamy as described thanks to the moisturising qualities of the lotus flower extract. The product glides onto the lips beautifully and, unlike the description, this is a buildable colour that goes on quite sheer but then layers well into a bolder colour. I’m not sure if this is because of the shade I chose or if this is standard across the range. The product claims to be highly pigmented and a ‘one swipe’ formula. I find ‘one swipe’ is great for me but those who like a bolder colour might be disappointed with this claim. This is exactly what I wanted from the product as a lipstick novice but may not appeal to all.
As you can see from the swatch the colour is glossy and has a lovely sheen without being sticky. Because of this the colour didn’t last very long but I am happy to reapply when it is this easy to use.
I went for the shade ‘honey bear’ which is described by Too Faced as ‘toasted mauve’. I think this short description describes the colour really well as it is a brownish mauve with a slight fleck of gold running through. This works to highlight the lips really well and helps the ‘sheen’ effect that I like so much about this colour. I like this so much that I featured it as my ‘one and only’ lip product in a recent tag which, you can read HERE if you missed it.
