Beauty – New Picks From Joan Collins Timeless Beauty

I am a bit of a sucker when it comes to celebrity make up lines. I have tried most of the brands that are out at the moment and Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner is my holy grail liner. I just can’t seem to find anything else that comes close to it in terms of quality and ease of use. A new brand to me is the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty collection. As you would expect from Joan it screams glamour and luxury, but does the quality match the gorgeous exterior?

I chose a lipstick from the Divine Lips collection and the Class Act mascara. The gold packaging is not dissimilar to Charlotte Tilbury with the ribbed tubes and her initials etched in the top. They look elegant and expensive. With the mascara retailing at £20 and the lipsticks at £18 I think they are fairly reasonably priced compared to similar brands.

The Class Act mascara promises to not only work as a mascara but to also give longer, thicker and fuller lashes within 30 days. The wand has a medium sized fluffy head that looks like it clumps dreadfully when in fact this formula coats the lashes well and lifts them into a natural curl. I find that if I use more than one coat, it can go a little uneven but one coat does the job perfectly. I can’t say I have noticed thicker or fuller lashes from using this daily but it is really kind to the eyes and it leaves glossy looking lashes. I also find it easier to remove than other mascaras and I don’t end up with panda eyes in the morning!

I decided to jump straight into spring and chose the shade Suzy Starr from the Divine Lips collection. Divine Lips is a creamy and moisturising formula which improves hydration in the lips without losing the colour staying power. This lipstick is super pigmented, probably the most pigmented I own and I have a vast collection that varies massively in price. The swatch above is one swipe of the bullet and I put one coat onto my lips. The coral shade is bright yet still dark enough to be worn by paler tones without washing out a lighter skin tone. I don’t normally go for bright lips but I find this shade so flattering, it will be in my carry on for future trips away. It really is soft and moisturising, I have been wearing a lot of matte lipsticks lately and my lips have felt dry and flaky. After wearing this lipstick my lips feel like they have been given a good scrub and treatment, not that I just applied a bit of colour. I will definitely be investing in the shade Marilyn for every day wear, it is a pretty rose shade that is more like the rest of my lip collection but will give my lips a break from my beloved matte shades. Thanks Joan, luxury meets quality perfectly and I can’t wait to grow my collection.
